Puffed Pop Pink
As a modern career woman there are lots of ways I try to "break the mold" every day. But when it comes to loving pink, loving a sale, and loving Autumn (also called Pumpkin Spice Season around here) I am a quintessential girly-girl who fits the mold to a T. And this textured crew neck Express top that I found at a Labor day sale is a perfect representative of these loves.
The rose colored pink offers a gentle brightness with neutral undertones, reflecting the peaceful transition from summer to fall that we recently experienced on a trip to Nashville. With a standard cut, medium length, and solid color, the puffed cropped bell sleeves are the fun and playful element in an otherwise tame and subdued top. I have never owned a top with sleeves like this before, so I'm glad I stopped into the store and could give it a try.
Because we were doing lots of walking around town, I paired the pink top with my favorite burgundy hi-rise skinny jeans from Charlotte Russe. Like colors on a paint swatch, the two hues complement each other and work well against the vibrant Nashville backdrop. I'm confident that I'll be able to pair this top with different bottoms as well.
My Giani Bernini purse from Macy's (purchased during a One-Day sale) and these cute 2" block heel Bandolino Sandals with a cork screw upper (also deeply discounted during Labor Day) completed the look.
• Stepping outside your own style doesn't have to be intimidating. Have fun with it as long as it makes you comfortable.
• Patterns and cuts are often what make outfits fun and appealing. Add sleeves to this list!
• We all love a sale! Always be on the lookout for deep discounts at your favorite stores (mail and e-newsletters can be a nuisance, but are a good source of info) and consider utilizing sales to buy something outside of your typical style. Make use of rewards to maximize your savings.
• In-store shopping is decreasing in popularity because of the convenience of shopping online, but I love to go out (even just to look) so that I can try on new styles. A trip to the outlets or mall to look around can also be a fun and free date!
